Anambra Election Already on the Path on Chaos?

By Adeola Aderounmu.

Fake Electoral and Polling Materials are already in circulation in Anambra States, Eastern Nigeria. This is ahead of the governorship Election coming up in February 2010.

The Police have intercepted some of these materials but who knows how many of such materials are in hidden places at this moment? Now we have blamed the Electoral Commission for frauds in past elections and that is true.

But here we see how some of the frauds are initiated by candidates. If the Nigerian State is well organised, by now we should have been told which of the candidates owned the seized fraudulent electoral materials. Such a candidate should be named, disgraced and disqualified for attempting to cheat.

If there are ways to detect if other candidates have acquired similar papers or are planning similar frauds, we should be informed immediately.

This type of revelation indicates that Nigeria is not ready for true democracy. Nigerian public office holders and seekers alike are not ready to compete fairly for votes. It has never happened before in the ugly history of elections in Nigeria. Candidates always cheat or are imposed on the populace by electoral officers.

It is just too shameful and unbearable that despite our wealth of experience and knowledge the Nigerian political sphere is dominated by stupid candidates and do-or-die politicians.

Again the bottom line is the fact that they want to steal, loot and destroy the country. Otherwise I don’t see any reason why a sane person would want to cheat to acquire a public office.

Public offices are meant for service to the people. Such offices take your time, dedication and selfless efforts. But it is not so in Anambra or anywhere else in Nigeria.

I am still hoping that one day sanity will reign supreme in Nigeria. Indeed it will require multi-faceted efforts and determination on the parts of the people who are still sane and selfless. We are surrounded by too many people whose ideas of public service is nothing but self enrichment which makes the means to such offices not only requiring desperate measures but deadly approaches through the use of violence, assassination and free fight.

If only the police can tell us who the useless owner of the fake electoral materials are..!

The US, UK and Germany are Terrorist countries too..!

By Adeola Aderounmu

Nigeria probably deserved to be there because Northern Nigeria is dominated by Sharia law and extremists who have slaughtered and killed Christians over the years without facing judgement.

Nigeria’s former president Mr. Obasanjo allowed the thoughtless governors in Northern Nigeria including Mr. Yar Adua to establish Sharia states. As the president from 1999-2007 he could have weird his presidential authority (even if that confirms his military background for a good purpose) to stop those fools from establishing sharia states within a secular country.

By turning his face away and doing nothing Mr. Obasanjo and the lazy Northern governors committed acts of treason, among many other crimes, against the Nigerian nation. The 2009 Christmas day Nigerian bomber is the certificate and climax for the crimes of both the Nigerian rulers and a failed parenthood.

However Mr. Obama the American president and those who decided to place Nigeria on the list of countries of terrorists are either myopic or simply blinded by what we continue to unfold as the future of terrorism.

A number of the perpetrators of the 9-11 terror attack on the US trained both in Germany and the US. They were trained by Americans and probably Germans. That way they are not different from Abdulmuttalab who was trained in Yemen. Yemen and Nigeria are on terror list. In my opinion Germany and the US are on top of the terror list.

I cannot count how many terrorists have emerged from the UK. Those in incubation as we have been told far outnumbered those we have seen. In that sense the UK occupies the number one spot of terrorist countries.

You see Mr. Obama, double standards cannot save or rescue the world. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. You cannot put Nigeria on the list of terrorist countries while closing your eyes to the past or the precedents and even ignoring threats from within your domains.

But let me help you. I am Nigerian and I know that if care is not taken, Nigeria will disintegrate even before the 2015 as predicted. I hate what is called governance in Nigeria. It’s too corrupt for me to behold. I know corruption is worldwide trait but the dimension and the effects in my Nigeria make me sick. I am frustrated. I am so frustrated by the never improving status of my country despite our intelligence, oil wealth and vast human resources. Our expanse of mineral and agricultural diversities lay in fallow or in ruins. We are so graciously blessed but largely living in penury-more than 70% of Nigerians are living in unnecessary poverty. We deserve a better life for real!

Hence I reckon with you the ease with which you can place Nigeria on the terror list. But that doesn’t stop me from pointing out to you that the US, Britain and Germany in my mind, are terrorist nations as well. I believe I have a right to my own judgement too. The recent killings of Americans by an American man at a military base point to the constancy of America as a nation of terrorists. A number of American citizens are scattered worldwide planning terror to be executed in America or on Americans. Remember the arrest in Pakistan?

My advice to you is to review the list of terrorist countries. You have to base your conclusions on sound judgments and not sentiments or witch-hunting. How can Nigeria be on the list of terrorist countries for the same reason that have left out the US, UK and Germany? That I don’t get but I do understand our peculiarity as highlighted above.

But now I can argue that Nigeria should not be on the terror list because Abdulmuttalab is not a symbol of Nigeria.

Nigerians: We are Captives in our own country..!

By Adeola Aderounmu

Nigeria is trying to shake off the “terror-label” tagged by the US but if you ask me we have more serious issues to take care of on our home front.

I have actually written a piece (yet unposted) to challenge Barrack Obama or whoever gave the tag to Nigeria. I will not dispute the fact that Northern Nigeria is a fertile ground to would-be terrorists but the US and UK are more terrorist countries than Nigeria. I’ll come back to that in another post.

But has anyone been following the events in Nigeria and how a small group of persons have enslaved the rest of us. Mr. Yar Adua is not available and no one else will be allowed to become president.

Invariably we are being told that it is Yar Adua (dead, half dead or alive) OR no one else until 2011. So Nigeria will be without a ruler, leader, dictator or whatever until 2011 or whenever the next election will be. Goodluck Jonathan can be there as a figure head for all this clique of people care!

There was a demonstration last week demanding the end of this nonsense rulership of incapable Yar Adua but if you ask me I think the situation demands a daily and sustained demonstration until the objective of rally is achieved-that is the supremacy of the constitution which has been thrown away for over 53 days.

In one of my post I have described the Nigeria Judiciary as a citadel of corrupt minds. Yes it is! Imagine the judgements and pronouncements that were made this week. The Nigerian Judiciary is a rotten and useless branch of government. One judge wakes up one morning and collects millions of dollars as bribe and tells us afterwards that there is no power vacuum in Nigeria. Only a fool can say that!

My frustration for Nigeria has increased and my sadness knows no bound. When people come to my blog and tell me bullshit about what I write about Nigeria, I get more upset even as I approved their comments. Only a fool or an idiot will be happy with the sad situation in Nigeria. Another fool will expect the rest of us to point out the good things in Nigeria while neglecting the fundamental issues that affect more than 70m Nigerians.

Mr. Aondoakaa that shameless Attorney General is doing all he can to make a fool out of the rest of us. This won’t last long. People like him should remember war criminals. They always pay for their crimes. One day those who are committing these despicable acts will be brought to judgement. The arm of the law is surely short in Nigeria but still I know it will catch up with his likes.

Sometimes I don’t find the words to express my anger and frustrations. We have a sick ruler. He is incapable. Our lives are in coma the same time as his. What is wrong to allow the constitution to takes its course. Goodluck Jonathan is a vice president. He should be allowed to take over so that governance can continue.

However these greedy people who have captured the rest of us as slaves will not allow our lives to go on. They will keep us waiting as they continue to steal, loot and destroy what is left of the weak foundations of our sick democracy.

I am getting tired. When will madness stops in Nigeria seat of power?

The Shooting of Togolese Footballers

Adeola Aderounmu

I read with dismay the unfortunate shooting of Togolese Footballers as their entourage were driving through Cabinda to reach Angola.

If I was one of the footballers I would been long gone, home!

I mean they could all have been dead by now if they were seated in the first bus. The driver of the bus was killed but they were lucky to be in the bus coming behind. Still one or two players got bullets embedded in their bodies and losing consciousness.

This is very frightening. The Angola Government and the Angola Football Federation has not tried at all. What kind of nonsense and stupidity is this?

Why was there no warning of war or rebellion in parts of Angola or Cabinda? This is completely unacceptable in a world now dominated by terrorist activities. Yes terror and the fear of it has gripped the world whether we like it or not. This is why we now have to be stripped naked by machines especially if we are travelling to the US.

The Angola Government and the Football Federation, even CAF has a lot to explain to the world and to the Togolese especially. This could have been a much more devasting tragedy. It is still a serious tragedy because someone has been killed for no fault of his.

The terrorists who carried out this devilish act deserved to be hunted and captured by all or any means possible. What is the crime of the Togolese players that they made them the target? Absolute nonsense and unacceptable act of war on innocent people plying their trade and flying the flag of Togo.

Like I wrote earlier, I would be long gone if I survived such an attack. Morally and psychologically I would not find the strength to play any stupid game when my teammate is down injured and my driver is dead. If Togo goes ahead to feature in this African Cup of Nation Tournament, I wish them luck but they deserve a break from it-if only to send a strong signal that security is not a joking matter when you are a visitor of a certain government.

Angola has let African down not because they attack actually took place but because it didn’t provide any warning system that there are terrorists within its territory. Angola has failed even before the kick off because an entire entourage could have been massacred. If that has happened I am sure we will be talking about a cancellation of the entire tournament by now.

Well let this serve as a good lesson for nations all over the world. Give early signals and warn visitors to your country of the type of terrorists that you habour and the areas to avoid. The Togolese team was driving from Congo to Angola and it seems the the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is now shifting blame that the team should have flown (by air). Lame excuse! CAF should just accept responsibility for its failure rather than make useless comments at this time that Togo is experiencing pain and sorrow.

There is no point trying to paint the condition of perfection when your country is under siege from within by terrorists or rebels. Make is open, give warnings, offer maximum protection and provide adequate security that will avert the unnecessary lose of lives and property.

My greatest sympathy to the Togolese Team in the African Cup of Nation. To Nigerian-born Emmanuel Seyi Adebayor and his teammates I send my condolence for the lose of your driver. Surely the siege is over but the shock will stay for a long time. If you decide to play, we will understand if you don’t play your hearts out. Whatever happens, we have all learnt a new lesson, like we do everyday, and football is just another kind of sports. It should never be a do-or-die event and the earlier the perpetrators of this ugly event are captured and prosecuted the better for the global village.

Their President is Missing

By Adeola Aderounmu

Mr. Yar Adua who millions of Nigerians regard as their Nigerians is missing. He is not in the hospital in Saudi Arabia as originally thought or reported. So, where is their president?

This is so ridiculous and shameful. The US has just listed Nigeria as one of the countries under scrutiny because of one stupid boy called Abdulmuttalab who tried to blow up an American airliner. Seriously I’m beginning to have a second thought on my support for Mr. Obama.

1 Nigerian terrorist and 151 million people guilty. Mr Obama needs to re-examine his thoughts and actions. Indeed Northern Nigeria is a potential hot spot for recruitment of idle or wasted minds into terrorist network but the more literate south is devasted by this situation. Nigerians should be removed from the useless list of passengers to be “stripped” when flying to the US. All passengers deserve the same treatment.

Anyway how much blame falls on Obama’s admin is another perspective into the entire scenario. 151m Nigerians have been kidnapped and held hostage by a cabal and some gangsters that have refused to move the country forward more than 40 days since Mr. Yar Adua went missing.

Nigeria is a peculiar country no doubts. Our politicians and rulers are more or less idiots and nonentities. If not, how can there be a power vacuum for more than 40 days when there is a VP? They have turned the VP to a mumu. I could throw up reading his new year message! Pray, Support, this, that and all the useless and nonsense statements we’ve heard before. Nigerians need a new way forward, we want a leader and to even think that this entrapped man called Jonathan is the likely ruler in the days ahead makes me shiver. Still I hope he gets the chance and we’ll see where we go from there in 2011.

Many things are wrong and lies and propaganda are flowing freely. Power vacuum remains as some irresponsible people continue to toy and play with our lives. They stole our future and they are about to set the stage for the destruction of the next generation.

If I may repeat (how many times have I done this?), Yar Adua should be left alone wherever he is and whatever he is doing, we MUST MOVE ON.

We are a nation of 151m people and we are currently at the centre-stage of world’s attention as a terrorist nation. Still we have no one to address the issues plaguing us. Their president is missing, no one knows where Yar Adua is!

Maduekwe is giving the US a 7 day ultimatum. Very funny. Where is your president Mr Ojo Maduekwe? Where is the ultimatum coming from and who are you chatting with? Please give me a break. A country without a legal president is a symbol of useless politicians who should be ignored.

I’m sure Obama will listen to you when you tell him where your president is.

Where is their president, Mr Yar Adua?
