Nigeria 2019: The Last Chance?

The carpet crossing shows that our politicians are normadic criminals. They failed in PDP and they failed in APC. APC on its own is a monumental fraud. The first item on its agenda is the restructuring of Nigeria. But for the past 3 years Buhari who came to power on the back on this promise has done everything in his power to block the restructuring of Nigeria. Isn’t this the problem when we all supported an illiterate soldier to become the president?

AND If any young person in Nigeria is still expending energy on APC or PDP, then we have a serious problem. The problem must be beyond the Stockholm syndrome. A few years ago, l actually defined the Nigerian syndrome. Go and check out the meaning of both!

Nigeria 2019: The Last Chance?

The Days Of ignorance Are Over

By Adeola Aderounmu

When the French president visited Nigeria recently, he urged the young people in Nigeria to become active in politics. Before his admonition it was already clear to the young people that they need to become active and save Nigeria. Macron became the president of France at the age of 40.  He is a good example of the power of youth and the power of change.

There are other examples of young people emerging as the leaders of their countries. The Canadian prime Minister Justin Trudeau was born in 1971. He is just 6 years older than Macron.

Let me go straight to my points for this essay.

In 1999 Nigeria returned to civilian rule albeit a power change that remained mostly controlled by the military both in person (Obasanjo and Buhari are ex-military dictators) and in structure (the Nigerian constitution and government is based on a unitary system of government that is synonymous with military style of governance).

From 1999 to this day two major political parties have dominated the political sphere (but there has been a transformation of some parties and mergers as well). One thing that cannot be questioned or doubted today is the failure of the People’s Democratic Party from 1999 to 2015 and the All People’s Congress from 2015 to the time of writing this essay.

The other things that are clear are, for example,  many corrupt and incompetent politicians migrated from the PDP when the APC was formed and a good example is the Senate president Mr. Saraki, a man who like many that parade the political sphere since 1999, is corrupt and hiding away Nigeria’s monies at some haven.

It is also clear that the All People’s Congress, APC, is full of corrupt and criminal politicians just exactly like the PDP. It is overwhelmingly clear that the APC and the PDP are birds of the same feather and the pieces of evidence are there for any reasonable and thoughtful human being to see. It is obvious that the PDP and APC are not interested in the welfare of the people of Nigeria.

In the last 3 years, APC kept comparing how many people that have died under its regime with the number that died under Jonathan’s regime. In the last 3 years, the APC did not succeed in preventing the sliding of more Nigerians into the poverty zone and Nigeria became the poverty capital of the world.

Mr. Buhari remains a military man in mufti, he does not respect court orders. Nigeria is not getting better. The APC wants more time but the overwhelming facts show that Buhari is incompetent, that APC did not do anything to cut the wages and expenses incurred by the National Assembly and the House of Representatives, the budget padding remain unabated and above all the way things are today in Nigeria are worse than at any other time in our history.

The greatest failure of Buhari and APC is in the lack of protection for the lives of the citizens. Under Buhari, people are slaughtered like goats and chickens. Buhari himself has no value for human life except that of his children.

He checked his son out of the country after a traffic accident when thousands of Nigeria have their blood spilled on the grounds of terror due to Boko Haram, the group he-Buhari openly supported under the PDP regime and the new wave of herdmens terror, a bid that has been seen as Buhari’s agenda for expansion of the Northern terrain if not to even Islamatise Nigeria. Buhari is sympathetic to both Boko Haram and the herdmen and is not fit to rule Nigeria one day longer.

Buhari himself barely lived in Nigeria. The health sector is in shambles and despite the millions of dollars budgeted for his clinic in Abuja, he prefers to waste Nigeria’s money at London hospitals. He’s such a shameless president.

Now the age of ignorance should be over. A few things need to give way in 2019.

First is the need to change the mantle of leadership. If any young person in Nigeria is still expending energy on APC or PDP, then we have a serious problem. The problem must be beyond the Stockholm syndrome. A few years ago, l actually defined the Nigerian syndrome.

You are suffering and you still want to ensure that the one who contributed to your suffering remains your boss or master. It must be a severe chronic disorder, this Nigerian syndrome.

Perhaps you are not suffering but you don’t think that Nigeria needs to be a better place than the UK or France or Canada. Then you have a serious chronic disorder too. Nigeria is richer than many countries in the world and Nigeria is supposed to be one of the best places to live. Almost 2 decades after the reemergence of civil rule, don’t you think Nigeria deserved to be among the best countries in the world?

The mantle of leadership must be taken away from both the APC and PDP. Without that we can close the chapter on the resurgence of Nigeria. With that, it is not the only antidote to our myriads of problems. It is just the first step.

Secondly, the unitary system of government must be discarded as soon as a new leadership emerges.

APC is a monumental fraud. The first item on its agenda is the restructuring of Nigeria. For the past 3 years Buhari who came to power on the back on this promise has done everything in his power to block the restructuring of Nigeria. This is the problem when you vote for a fool or an illiterate.

APC promised restructuring and the number one opponent of restructuring is Buhari. He is totally against restructuring. He is all for the Northerners taking over Nigeria through the spread of terror by his fellow herdsmen. Buhari is a huge joke and can anyone tell me why no one has been accosted or held responsible for the killings spree across Nigeria.

APC in the last 3 years had majority at the National Assembly and could have brought about re-structuring of Nigeria. But one of the consequences is that the senators may have to be sent home to their wards. You can understand the fear of restructuring Nigeria. These criminals at the National Assembly are taking home millions of dollars every month (the highest by any group of politicians in the world). They will not forgo it for the progress of Nigeria. Why then should we keep them for one day longer in 2019? Why?

This is where we are as a country. We are in need of leadership shift and change and we are in need of a workable system of government, something very similar to what the military destroyed since 1966.

Now, how on earth can we be with our senses as a people and still allow the APC and PDP to dominate our political landscape? That makes us irrational as a people. By now the politicians in the APC and PDP should be running helter skelter. They should be in fear of what would happen to them after the 2019 elections.

I heard Saraki just left the APC, there goes a man without principle jumping from one place to another and displaying the typical feature of a Nigerian politician in APC or PDP. We should make them defend their wealth in a proper court of law in 2019. All of them including Dino, Tinubu, Jonathan and Buhari!

By now we ought to have a movement of young people making it clear that come 2019 it will be a president probably under 50 years of age and a solid political plan along with it. By now it ought to be clear in Nigeria and to the rest of the world that a new wave is desired. One that will sweep away the old things once and for all and one that we usher in a stream of fresh air.

But it is not yet so in my Nigeria. In real life and on the social media, l still see a lot of young people aligning with the old generations and asking “who can do it better than Buhari?”. People say something like “if Atiku is for restructuring, he has my votes”. Really? Atiku? Did we forget the expose he gave on Obasanjo and what Obasanjo gave in return. These two should be in prison!

The Nigerian syndrome is incurable. The young people are disunited. They are divided by religion and separated along tribal lines. They are confused and selfish. These are results of more than 50 years of maladministration. Old people in Nigeria were deprived  of independent reasoning and Wole Soyinka called them the wasted generation. he is part of it, so no qualms with that definition.

One  would think that with the exposure that came with the internet and all that, that our young people understand what it meant to revolt and be unequivocal about how to change a lazy and irresponsible government.

There is no amount of the power of incumbency that can overturn the power of young people becoming resolute and united in forging a change in any country. Ask France. Ask Canada. We can do the same by just leaving alone the few hundreds politicians in APC and PDP. We can achieve a lot by leaving these greedy politicians alone with the families!!

If they see that no one is behind them, if they see that they are alone and if they get to the polling booths and find no one on their queues, how can they rig/manipulate results. The revolution ought to start now and be obvious before the end of 2018.

APC and PDP depend on young people to carry out their dirty works. What if we sensitize these young people now and make no one available for the dirty works of the APC and PDP? What if APC calls out a campaign tomorrow and only 40 people showed up?  What if PDP called out a campaign and only 50 people showed up? Then compare with the glory of a young presidential hopeful pulling 1 million supporters. The signal would be obvious and the change will be certain.

This is where we are as a country. We are at a point where we ought to for once lay down our differences as young people and make the future what we want it to be. I am sorry for Nigeria if the young people cannot reason together and take back Nigeria and build a country that they want their children to be proud of.

The time is now or never.

APC will not save or rescue Nigeria.

PDP will not save of rescue Nigeria.

Politicians moving around like normads cannot save Nigeria. Their games are up.

These two political parties are the same. The biggest evidence to this is the ease of carpet crossing. Let’s show them the door and then the prisons!

We need a new Nigeria.

We need a new leader not from APC or PDP.

Ibikunle Amosun: The Lazy Governor Of Ogun State

Another road that ought to be closed down permanently is the Agbara-Atan road. Even animals should not be transported on that road. It is that bad!

By Adeola Aderounmu

Governor Ibikunle Amosun must be a very lazy governor. By the time he leaves office in 2019 he will be leaving behind one of the worst roads that l have travelled in my entire life.

What kind of governor is that?

Agbara Industrial Area as the name implies is home to a lot of industries (I am wondering how many of the companies are left now) and should be a priority for any person who has some sense.

Unemployment is rife in Nigeria and one way to keep the investors and companies going is not just to provide constant power supply but to ensure that road networks are efficient.

The Agbara-Atan road ought to be closed down immediately and human beings should not be allowed to ply the road. Even animals should not be transported on that road.

I am not going to write an epistle about that road. It is a very, very bad road and l hope someone send this essay to the lazy governor. His time is running out and he may not care.

Lusada market (Agbara-Atan-Igbesa road) Are you kidding me that there is a governor in Ogun state? Is the governor normal?

Lusada market area. Amosun, are you for real?

Trailers on already damaged roads means more damage. When will good, durable roads come to Nigeria?

On one of the worst roads in the world!

Agbara-Atan road, probably one of the worst roads in the world!

People like Ibikunle Amosun should not be allowed to participate in politics because he does not know the meaning of public service. Nonsense and ingredients!

Nigerian Politics: The Meaning And Consequences Of Our Collective Foolishness

By Adeola Aderounmu

Which Way Nigeria?

There are several millions of people in Nigeria living in abject poverty and penury. I have been writing about this topic for many years. Over and over again l have defined mass poverty using Nigeria as a point of reference.

Don’t get this twisted few Nigerians are among the richest people in the world. There are legitimate ways to make money in Nigeria and abroad through hardwork, business focus and dedication.

But l will always prefer to write for the Nigerian who does not even know what he is going to do today or the one who has no hope for what he is going to eat for the next 24 hours.

There are over 100 million poor people Nigerians. Nigeria is the global capital of poverty. This is an abnormality because Nigeria is probably the richest country in the world. Nigeria is blessed with natural and human resources and she ought to be the number one nation in the world in terms of prosperity and the good life.

Now ask yourself, how can a country that is probably the richest in the world be home to some of the poorest people in the world? It is a very complicated situation and we have taken too long in this journey to stupidity in Nigeria.

I cannot tell you all about Nigeria but l can give you a quick review of the last decade or so.

Presently Nigeria is ruled (in 2018) by a man called Buhari. By all standards and measure this is a man that is not fit to be the president of Nigeria. This brings me straight to the topic Nigerian politics, the meaning of collective foolishness.

If we are not collectively foolish and stupid in Nigeria we should never have allowed unintelligent and dull people to run our political terrain. Above that, if we are not stupid and foolish we should NEVER have allowed criminals to rule us or to get away anyhow.

Our public institutions failed us and we failed ourselves by not having revolting minds. Somewhere along the way Nigerians became divided in several ways and this divide and rule became another addition to our collective stupidity.

The price we pay is huge. Globally not many people respect Nigerians despite the contributions that Nigerians in the diaspora give to the global economy, global health, global industrialization and global education. In many ways you can count the ways smart and intelligent Nigerians contribute to the world at large after been extracted from home or being born abroad.

But in that failed country called Nigeria, right there in the land, grand stupidity, madness and collective foolishness is the order of the day in politics and public service.

Of all the intelligent people in Nigeria and those we can bring back home from abroad, our president is Buhari. Buhari was a military man, a semi-illiterate who has no business with politics. He is the president. The most obvious anomaly of his emergence as a president is the fact that his deputy is a University professor. You can never find another country in the world displaying such collective stupidity.

Without any apology in sight, Nigerians display total and collective stupidity in allowing this to happen no matter what led to it. It does not matter what led to this, the fact is that it is stupid and foolish.

I mentioned earlier that criminals are ruling Nigeria and that is so correct. One way or the other these criminals are not going away soon as they continue to win cases in courts to prolong their criminal careers. I don’t care that these criminals won court cases and I don’t give a shit about whether l can prove the cases myself.

The list is long and they are all in the APC and PDP. All of them are criminals. This is the collective foolishness in Nigeria. It is the collective stupidity-that criminals are the politicians.

They are criminals because they are looting, stealing and living big. They have cars beyond their needs. They have houses beyond their needs, they live abroad and in Nigeria, their families are mostly abroad, they seek medical help abroad. Their children, relations and close acquaintances all go to school abroad or they travel abroad to lavish Nigeria’s stolen wealth.

If Nigerian politicians are not thieves or criminals, there will be not one single bad road in Nigeria. Nigerians roads are among the worst roads l have seen all my life. The roads in Nigeria clearly show the absence of sane governance. Pray you never have an emergency in Nigeria and need to seek medical help more than 5 km from your home. The result can be death! A journey of 15 minutes can take you 3 hours or more if you ever get going! In some cases, you can end up in deadlock traffic.

Public education is now history in Nigeria. Government shows little or no interest in public education and illiteracy has risen sharply in Nigeria. Private schools have been erected in every corner in Nigeria. So many of them are mushroom schools and a few of them are good standards. Huge sums of money are paid for education making it a luxury in modern day Nigeria.

Health is no longer wealth in Nigeria. There is poor health delivery to the masses and just like education, the health service you get is a measure of your pocket and getting quality health  is therefore a luxury. Maternal deaths are still common especially during child birth and death during childhood especially from preventable and curable diseases including malaria are still rampant.

You can go on like l have done over the years to list the problems with Nigeria. I know that some people always shout “but what are the solutions you are prescribing”.

There is only one solution-that which has worked for all the developed countries in the world.

The solution is good governance.

But how can Nigeria have good governance when criminals, morons, illiterates, useless people, mumus, foolish and stupid idiots are running the politics? Why can’t the rest of us agree and come together to end this rubbish.

And when we talk about good governance, we cannot have it through the useless unitary/military system we have in Nigeria.

Nigeria is what it is because of our divergent opinions which has resulted in our collected foolishness. The public institutions failed us and we failed ourselves by becoming comfortable with bad governments. We became afraid rather than securing our total freedom and ensuring that our children have a place they can call home. Many of us found our way out of Nigeria and are not planning to return.

But we must save Nigeria.

In some cases we brought good people to government but because of the way government is run these good people became bad people. They never talk or resign or point out the problems they are facing. Rather they become accomplices and only talk when they are out of office and out of favour. That is another form of stupidity even by those who we think are intelligent and professionals.

So Nigeria is in a dilemma.

Where these types of problems have occurred before like in Europe, the turn around to sanity started with violent and bloody revolutions. Nigeria may get there.

But that is avoidable if reasons prevail even now.

Nigerians need to discuss at the regional levels and each state and region in Nigeria owe it a responsibility to seek the help of her brilliant minds and best brains. Enough of all these idiots and fools in political offices/positions!

Nigeria can become the best place to live in the world in less than 10 years! It is a possibility if we round up all these criminals in power and bundle them into prisons. We take back all our monies in their local and international accounts.

We can reorganize Nigeria at the regional levels and speed up development through healthy development projects. We can rebuild Nigeria on the strength of our regional prowess and human resources. We can make the big oil companies to follow our tunes or kick them out of Nigeria for good.

We can open up more ports across Nigeria to aid even regional development and decongest Lagos.

With dedication and patriotism we can build up the education industry and make primary education compulsory again. We can reform our health institutions and make Nigeria the health base of Africa.

We can harness the youth and make them productive rather than unemployed and criminally minded.

There is a lot we can do in Nigeria and as Nigerians if we first take the power away from the center and ensure that only our best minds and our best brains are entrusted with the running of public affairs.

We must trace back our steps and existence to the time before the 1966 military coup. We must trace back to the time when we love one another and helped one another.

I know there is a lot of problems in Nigeria because of tribalism and nepotism, that it is not a secret that people are brought into different offices not because of what they know but because they are from a certain part of the country. When we turn back to regional government and a ceremonial head of state with very limited power, all that nonsense will stop and education, merit and dignity will be restored.

If we don’t resolve to stop all the atrocities and all the nonsense that is going on in our politics and if in 2019 the status quo is still the case then l still owe no one any apology because it means we are all still foolish and stupid.

The only cure to our collective foolishness and stupidity that has made Nigeria one of the worst places to be born or live is a radical decision and a collective will to see that we change things for the best in the shortest possible time.

A vote for a Buhari, Atiku or Saraki for example in 2019 is pure madness. I just thought l should add that we cannot keep doing the same thing and expect a better outcome.

Away with criminals by all means and by any means!

I never know where to stop my articles and essays and that probably makes me the angriest Nigerian alive today. I am also the saddest Nigerian take it or leave it! It does not matter that l live a good life, l am sad and angry everyday because Nigeria is a total mess and a complete horror to behold. I know we can have it good and lovely and it hurts how we think, reason, act and how selfish and wicked we have become as a people.

Nigeria in 2018: Probably The Worst Place To Be Born Or Live

By Adeola Aderounmu

The headline can be controversial but l must write about this.

There is no official declaration of war in Nigeria but have you taken a trip around Nigeria lately?

A lot of people are in denial of the true state of things in Nigeria. In particular some people make a lot of money and wealth in Nigeria and they think that is a shield from the true nature of things. There is also another category of Nigerians who travel around the world and when they are in Nigeria they have the money to splash around and they think that Nigeria is the deal.

I am putting myself in the position of the ordinary Nigerian. The one who is unemployed due to no fault of his. I am putting myself in the position of the Nigerian who is totally disconnected from the meaning of true governance. I am putting myself in the position of the man and woman who is suffering immensely because of every N1 that is stolen or every N1m that disappears from the treasury of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Based on my position l have come to a conclusion that Nigeria is probably the worst place to be born among the countries not officially at war.

I wish l could take a trip with anyone who disagree with me. Such trip can be divided into sub-trips. We can take a trip in Lagos and visit all the local government areas. We can take a trip and travel in Rwanda, Ghana, Sweden, Togo, Benin, England and any other place not officially at war. Then we can put together our findings and make a conclusion of which country is the worst to be born or live. I am ready for this challenge anyday anytime.

If you have an emergency in Lagos, there is a 98% chance that you will die. The reasons are: you cannot make a journey of 10 minutes in 10 minutes to the hospital. It may take you 1 hour. A journey of 20 minutes can take you 4 hours. So you chance of survival is very slim.

There are other reasons and mainly health care is a mess. The best evidence of this is the regular travel of Nigeria’s politicians overseas for treatment. The other problems are that you need to be wealthy to have access to quality health in Nigeria. Emergency situations in Nigeria commonly result to deaths.

In everyday Lagos life, it is a struggle. Even some war torn ountries don’t ecperience such struggles. I encourage you to look for a video of Daddy showkey on the internet and see how it was impossible to reach Ajegunle from Ojodu. He never made it !

Nigeria is hiding the tru nature of life in Nigeria from the rest of the world. Nigerian celebrities are not doing enough, most of them are concerned about making money and not losing the patronage of the corrupt money that gets to them daily.

Nigerians are living are slaves in Nigeria and people are compromised. This is not right. There was a useless eelction recently in Ekiti where both APC and PDP were bribing the electorates. You can go one weeping for Nigeria and the level of deceits is unimaginable and the people are just rolling by rather than collectively revolting and taking back their country.

I will post some headling for you here and these headlines are normal, regular, not unexpected and they are okay because there are no more outrages in Nigeria. The people have become zombified and accepting a wrong type of existence.

I have never in my life seen a country with so much suffering and problems where the people are passive and resilient.

The government is a total failure at all levels and it is shocking to me that Nigeria has not been declared as a disaster zone herself. I visited Nigeria and l know what l am talking about.

I keep asking people “how can we be living like this”? There are no definite answers and people keep praying and hoping rather than coming together to stop the nonsense in the land.

screenshot_20180707-1818081897322548.jpg

Mr. Buhari’s government is full of lies and propaganda. Everyday hundreds of Nigeria die for various reasons relating to security, health and transportation. National emergencies should be declared instead of all these lies.

screenshot_20180712-153802106050621.jpg

Headlines like these are no longer causing outrages or condemnations among Nigerians. They have come to accept terrorists and terrorism as part of the Nigerian existence. The herdsmen are commonly never apprehended and justice is never served.

screenshot_20180715-222430347281612.jpg

In several parts of Nigeria there is lack of urban or rural planning meaning that EIA, Evironmental Impact Assessments are not done or they are ignored. If the government knows the meaning of planning then deaths like these can be prevented.

20180704_1358171836517523.jpg

This is a rare acknowledgement that Nigeria is not safe as stated by Mr. Buhari. The problem here is that Dogara and his colleagues are carting away millions of dollars monthly as salaries and allowances. He is also part of the corrupt elites in Nigeria and people like him and Saraki should be prosecuted but the judiciary is weak and lazy. With politicians who are dishonest, Nigeria will remain one of the worst places to live on earth.

screenshot_20180717-1427501070540474.jpg

Emergencies are never declared and dying in Nigeria is not treated as a serious problem. No outrage when a soul is missing. Imagine 49 dead and property destroyed yet no national package on prevention of future flooding. Nobody was sacked and nobody took responsibility. Any kind of rain can result to flood in NIGERIA due to poor planning and lack of respect for human life

screenshot_20180717-152847268037743.jpg

What has the APC government done to end the massacre and genocide across Nigeria? Nothing ! There are a few communities and villages taken over by the herdsmen in Benue and we have not heard that government troops have gone in to arrest the herdsmen. We have not heard that APC has reverted the communities back to the original owners. Is Buhari and APC not commiting war crimes in Nigeria?

screenshot_20180717-1529461317317453.jpg

Nigeria is one of the worst places to live and headlines like these tell the story. Which agency at the state and federal levels are monitoring building standards? A passerby or a young child or anybody at all could have perished with this building. We have seen and heard so many stories of collapse buildings. If there are things around you that could end your life abruptly, you are living on the edge!

screenshot_20180717-1530121772993118.jpg

Lagos in particular needs a permanent solution to the trailers, tankers dilemma on the roads. The tanker drivers and their owners are to date above the law and that is so ridiculous and shameful. In a lawless country things are done anyhow without consequences. Many trailers are involved in road accidents and many people have been killed like it is a ritural that must happen. Until the next disaster the Lagos state government goes underground and does nothing to prevent re-occurence.

screenshot_20180717-21355141839383.jpg

What a sad loss! Nobody cares in Nigeria..! People just act like nothing happened and only the families affected by a tragedy bears the brunt and pains. It’s so typical Nigeria not to care anymore!

screenshot_20180718-2036421827955997.jpg

There are now so many terrorist groups in Nigeria and this one beats me. They may  say they are not a terror group but that a rumoured attack is attached to a group simply in my own world means that you represent terror! For the attacks that these monsters have perpetrated, what has the APC done to ensure that they are arrested and brought under the law? Nothing!

screenshot_20180719-1002351555583070.jpg

Nigerians don’t believe in the judicial system so they take the laws into their hands. If somebody wants you dead all they have to do is to shout thief thief on you in a market place and you will be dead in split seconds. People are angry at the wrong things! The politicians are looting billions daily and they are living big and fat. Nobody is outrage at them. People kill their own kinds easily rather than turn them to the police. They don’t trust the police, they don’t trust the law system. Jungle justice it is!

screenshot_20180719-135633856515470.jpg

BOKO HARAM was never defeated in 2015. Buhari lied! Buhari should have been impeached but Nigerian politicians are birds of the same feather. Nigeria needs to adopt a new system of government. The unitary system is not working and terrorism is a falliout of failed govenrment. The earlier Nigerian adopt regional government, the better. But the need to equip the military  and the need to put a stop to BH is urgent.

20180710_174604(0)54725227.jpg

Poverty and lawlessness go hand in hand in Nigeria. People risk their lives to make ends meet. It is a sad situation!

20180710_174559670071768.jpg

This is what you get when the government fails to provide safe and comfortable means of transport for the people.

saraki-buhari-dogara-in-london-feb2017

Nigeria’s failed health system is amplified by the regular visit of Mr. Buhari to London. In the 1950s Nigeria was the hub of health tourism. 3 years after the APC came to power the government still cannot provide health care for Buhari. This is a shame l am so pissed off. You are a BIG fool if you try to justify or rationalise Buhari’s trip abroad for treatment.

20171015_131028788368653.png

Buhari has not hidden his love for the North. He is better off as the president of the North rather than the president of Nigeria. The security problem in Nigeria is largely due to Buhari appointing his kinsmen into all the key military positions in Nigeria. Buhari is not fit to be the president of Nigeria even for one day. Disgraceful!

We need to do something in every aspect of the Nigerian life. I mean every aspect and all these lies about the good life is propaganda. We need to come down to the level of the every day life of the common people and see their sufferings. It’s a hopeless situation everywhere you turn and we need a real change.

Nigeria is a failed country. We need a reset button and we need a new lease of life. We need to get rid of both APC and PDP and try something new. We need new hands and we need new ideas. APC and PDP members are changing camps as they like and that means they are just crazy and have no solutions at hand.

I m particularly angry at young people who cannot use their age and advantage to change the status quo. Many young people are behind APC and PDP and that is a great mistake. People have lost their senses because they want to make money and become part of the elites and oppressors club.

The meaning of life is lost in Nigeria and my conclusion is that Nigeria is the worst place to be born or live permanently in the world in 2018.

I did not write this eassy to destroy Nigeria. I am writing this because l want us to educate ourselves and l want us to love Nigeria and help her recover. We cannot continue to lie and deceive ourselves that things are alright. They are not and we are not alright. I am certainly not alright coming back to a shameful country like Nigeria every now and then.

we must talk and write about these things that are not working. We must stop to be selfish and stop thinking only about ourselves.

We all deserve to live decent lives. NiGERIANS deserve quality lives and we must do all we can to get to that level no matter what it takes.

You can tell that l have never been afraid for my life because life is transient and no matter how good or bad we are, it ends one day. But whilst it last, it pains to see Nigeria this way. It hurts badly!

This Is Your Lagos? Shame On You APC, PDP, Buhari, Fasola And Ambode!(PhotoNews)

Many roads in Lagos states ought to be shut down as disaster zones. There are accidents, deaths and several untold hardships on these roads daily. Those who are responsible for these roads ought to be arrested and prosecuted for crimes against humanity.

By Adeola Aderounmu

I took all the pictures you see in this essay between June 26 and July 10 2018.

Civilian rule returned to Nigeria in 1999. This means that Nigerian politicians in both the ruling APC and the opposition PDP have spent together 19 years in governance and still cannot put right what the military gangsters destroyed.

So the systemic failure in Nigeria today is due largely to the lack of performances since 1999. We can argue that the stretch is longer but that is another discussion for another day.

Lagos is heavily littered. The government needs to step up waste management system. Somebody should care about health care in relation to waste management and disposal.

The state of the federal roads in Lagos state which is the economic capital of Nigeria is very appalling and disgraceful.

The state of the roads in Lagos state is heart breaking, depressing and sorrowful. (I will treat some parts of Ogun state in another essay).

I do not share the notion that a certain government is trying or that a certain governor is working. That’s all bullshit!

In the last 19 years at least, there are no more tenable excuses why the roads in Lagos should be so terrible.

Sincerely if l could make the decision, l will block all the roads you see in this essay. Human beings should not be allowed to travel on these roads. They are permanent death traps and l wish someone in the the world somewhere has the power to shut down all these dangerous roads in Lagos and elsewhere in Nigeria.

Roads in Nigeria are usually of low quality. They get bad before rainy season and worse during the rain. There are rivers on many roads in Lagos. This is Badagry expressway near the okokomaiko axis

20180628_121231532912869.jpg

Federal roads in Nigeria are amongst the worst roads in the world. Shame on Buhari and Fasola. Shame on previous PDP government

20180628_1212421161218073.jpg

Nigerian roads easily destroy cars and reduce their life span.

20180628_1213011532088574.jpg

Very bad roads in Lagos. Is this actually a road?

20180628_121355935632839.jpg

Bad road. What a useless government!

Whoever is responsible for these roads since 1999 ought to be arrested and prosecuted without delay. Since 2015, Mr. Buhari and Mr. Fasola are solely responsible for the federal roads in Lagos and they should be tried for crimes against humanity for all the deaths that continue to occur on the federal roads.

Without delay, the Badagry Express Way should be shut down!!! That is not an expressway. It is not even a road!

Mr. Ambode is culpable too because he is the number one citizen of Lagos state for the past 3 years! What has he been doing? Don’t tell me he is trying! He is not the governor of Lagos Island, is he?

If there are reasons why Mr. Fasola and Mr. Buhari have not constructed and maintained the federal roads in Lagos, why is Mr. Ambode not talking about it to the media and to the world just like l am doing now.

20180628_121418568378369.jpg

Badagry expressway has no defined lanes. You drive where you find a space and this means facing opposite traffic ofen times.

Badagry expressway

Badagry expressway. How express is this road?

Trying to navigate a way.

Smoky and gangerous plus l was faced by an oncoming traffic driving along Oshodi-Mile 2. Trailers and heavy traffic means driving on one way is a common trend.

20180703_17311145352083.jpg

Lagos roads are commonly dirty

20180703_1731341427958837.jpg

Badagry expressway. Very very bad road!

20180703_17560419926348.jpg

A trailer fell on the road due to the bad state of the road and big pot holes. Lagos roads are the most dangerous roads l have seen all my life!

20180703_175606929068844.jpg

The trailer could have fallen on people or other cars. But this was a single incident causing obstruction to the already bad situation

20180703_1758301639494251.jpg

Drving in rivers or on roads? Can we ask Buhari or Fasola? Vehicles face one another and there could be up to 8 lanes in multiple directions!!!

20180703_1758321858648325.jpg

These roads are the consequences of every N1 or N5 stolen by government officials! May you never find peace if you support a government or the governments causing these type of hardship. May your generations suffer!

20180708_1532261519690381.jpg

This commercial bus is going no where. In the middle of the road, tyres are off. A potential cause of accident!

20180708_153743297925627.jpg

A commercial bus broke down along Badagry expressway and the passengers wait for refund. Look at the road. LOOK AT THE FILTH! Is Nigeria really a country?

20180708_1542291007448391.jpg

Confusion and commotion

20180708_154431661392216.jpg

Dirty Lagos. Don’t tell me Ambode is working or trying. One dirty street means nobody is working! Somebody should be facing prosecution for allowing the people dump waste on major roads.

20180708_160408514521747.jpg

Bad road. Badagry express road.

20180708_160423690216811.jpg

Can we call this a road? Who will answer , Buhari or Fasola?

20180708_160426524358968.jpg

Is this a road Mr Buhari, Mr Fasola Mr Ambode?

Crazy traffic in Lagos due to bad road

For one month at least, l’m going to pay for this essay on instagram and facebook. Then l will see what reactions we get. If possible, l will continue to sponsor the advertisement for this essay just as long as the problem remains and l will keep a tab on Lagos to see current situations.

How on earth can this be the situation and there are no outrages? What is wrong with Nigerians? What is wrong with Lagosians?

All the roads for transportation, state, local and federal must be in perfect shape and good maintenance. No road must be left untouched because the people of Nigeria deserve the best that life has to offer. You can’t do 50% of the roads. You can’t of 99% of the roads. The 1% left undone can cause death and other unwanted scenarios. You must be perfect. All roads must be fixed and that is the work/function of government.

The government is not doing the people any favour by doing what it is supposed to do.

20180708_1613531509431990.jpg

Mr. Buhari, Mr. Fasola and Mr. Ambode must put their heads together now and put politics and election aside for once. Lagos roads and all roads in Nigeria must be fixed. It is your job. It is your work. No one is begging you. You are servants to the people and serve you must or get the hell out of the offices you occupy.

What l saw of Lagos roads revealed to me that on the long run, Nigeria must do away with the useless and senseless unitary system of government as soon as possible.

This part of festac town has been erased from the map of Nigeria. 4th avenue with faeces and sewage taking over the community for several years now.

20180709_131654379165868.jpg

Forgotten part of Lagos in Festac. The smell on this road is more or less a biological weapon against the people.

20180709_131658724697060.jpg

Festac Town. From glory to grass! Smelly stinking 4th avenue!

20180710_17263348773444.jpg

Somewhere about Ajao estate in Lagos as we drove to the airport. Lagos is giving wealth to Nigeria and the suffering is massive in Lagos. I cannot comprehend the shame and scandal in Lagos

I do not expect Mr. Buhari to know the roads l travel in Lagos. Even a federal minister knows little about the roads in Nigeria. But a governor and a local government chairman will know better. Therefore it is best to review how power can be taken away from that useless office in Abuja and taken back to the grassroots where people can see and solve their problems regionally and locally. It is just pure common sense!

20180710_173949564639398.jpg

Someplace in Lagos…bad roads everywhere. Did you say your governor is working? I say you have a governor for Lagos lsland, not a governor for Lagos! Certainly not a governor for Lagos mainland, not a governor for Iyana Iba, Okokomaiko towards Agbara Industrial Area. Dirty, messy Lagos!

I have been writing about the ills in Nigeria for almost 2 decades and l could go on here again in this essay but let’s save the tautology and hope that my message is clear: FIX ALL THE ROADS IN LAGOS AND END THIS SHAME!!
