Jos Burns Again

By Adeola Aderounmu

I have at least 2 entries on my blog stating that Nigeria is not a terrorist country but the muslim region north of Nigeria continues to make nonsense of my claims. There are loads of groups now on facebook saying that Nigeria is not a terrorist country. But the more some of us have tried to paint Nigeria positive by saying that we are not a nation of terrorists the more some fools somewhere are negating our claims.

There have been fighting again in Jos. Jos again? What is wrong with Jos?

Can the governor of Plateau State give us reasons why he cannot ensure security of lives and property in his domain? Why is there regular fighting in Jos between Muslims and Christians? Are there no permanent solutions to these problems?

Nigeria is not a terrorist country and those who may want to use this ugly event in Jos to say-we told you so-must be told in clear terms that this violence in the North of Nigeria or in the Middle Belts do not define Nigeria or Nigerians.

We are a life and peace loving people. These outbursts in the North is a regional problem caused by ignorance, poverty and brainwashing of illiterates by a few selfish people-usually politicians using religion as a political weapon. I really do not know the cause of the recent clashes but I’ll surely have to ask around and find out what the problems of those fools are.

I remember featuring in a video clip for a group of people who are planning to visit Nigeria-see inserted clip. I promoted Nigeria and Jos especially. So I am really disappointed with the latest clashes. How can these people now have the courage to visit Jos with all these clashes and religious violence.

But then, hey, Nigeria has no ruler and there you can trace the origin of our country. A headless body is obviously useless. It was bad enough with headache, what can one say when the head is eventually off?

Nigerians, please lets save our country..!

We are not terrorists and we are definitely not a nation of violent people. How can we get this message across with all these negative images from Nigeria?

FIFA says Footballers Can Play with their Hands

By Adeola Aderounmu

I’m hoping to see a new kind of foot-hand-ball in South Africa 2010.

FIFA says its okay for footballers to play with their hands as long as they don’t use their hands to prevent a goal. Fantastic!

This is what I gathered from the “Henry will not be punished” report. He was not seen by the referee and he didn’t use his hands to prevent a goal. According to FIFA, he only used his hands to aid scoring a goal. AND it’s ok to do that, they said.

So there you go-al footballers. Score with your hands but please don’t stop the ball from going into the nets with your hands.

Goodluck to the best foot-hand-ball team in South Africa. Let the celebration begin…!

Nation Cup Scandals: How Angola Messed Up the African Cup of Nations

By Adeola Aderounmu

Angola is giving Africa bad image ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. These must be worrying times for the Organising Committee in South Africa. South Africa must continue to monitor the useless errors emanating from Angola and the world must be told in clear terms that whatever is happening in Angola right now is basically Angola and CAF’s problems and is not related in anyway to South Africa 2010.

Togo went home because Angola and CAF did not warn of the rebels in Cabinda. Togo lost key members of their national team to organised terror acts in Cabinda. Togo therefore went home to bury their dead compatriots while praying for the reserve goalkeeper undergoing treatment in SA.

Malawi has filed a fresh complain. The team has not been able to train since they beat Algeria 3-0 in their opening game. Ahead of their game to Angola which they lost, the Malawians were not allowed to train. Each time they got to the training pitch, they were turned back. Sometimes it was the Angolans training there and at other times they were being chased away by the police.

What a scnadal? The Angolans are lucky that everyone is not like me. This scandal is enough for the Malawians to withdraw from the competition. I mean if you are not allowed to train or practise ahead of your game, then you are like going to a war without weapons.

The Malawians did not get the chance to train on their tactics, and they had no time to exercise and charge-up for the game against Angola. That they lost is therefore no surprise.

Angola has messed up this year’s Nations Cup. Angola should never be allowed to host any competition in the next 20 or 40 years. They should learn to do their homework. I actually see this particular case as a way of demoralising the Malawians and making sure that they did not get the necessary time to plan the downfall of the Angolans. It worked perfectly well!

This is a shame-a BIG scandal by any magnitude. Angola is disgracing their country and Africa. Angola should bury its head in shame. This is nonsense!

Anambra Election Already on the Path on Chaos?

By Adeola Aderounmu.

Fake Electoral and Polling Materials are already in circulation in Anambra States, Eastern Nigeria. This is ahead of the governorship Election coming up in February 2010.

The Police have intercepted some of these materials but who knows how many of such materials are in hidden places at this moment? Now we have blamed the Electoral Commission for frauds in past elections and that is true.

But here we see how some of the frauds are initiated by candidates. If the Nigerian State is well organised, by now we should have been told which of the candidates owned the seized fraudulent electoral materials. Such a candidate should be named, disgraced and disqualified for attempting to cheat.

If there are ways to detect if other candidates have acquired similar papers or are planning similar frauds, we should be informed immediately.

This type of revelation indicates that Nigeria is not ready for true democracy. Nigerian public office holders and seekers alike are not ready to compete fairly for votes. It has never happened before in the ugly history of elections in Nigeria. Candidates always cheat or are imposed on the populace by electoral officers.

It is just too shameful and unbearable that despite our wealth of experience and knowledge the Nigerian political sphere is dominated by stupid candidates and do-or-die politicians.

Again the bottom line is the fact that they want to steal, loot and destroy the country. Otherwise I don’t see any reason why a sane person would want to cheat to acquire a public office.

Public offices are meant for service to the people. Such offices take your time, dedication and selfless efforts. But it is not so in Anambra or anywhere else in Nigeria.

I am still hoping that one day sanity will reign supreme in Nigeria. Indeed it will require multi-faceted efforts and determination on the parts of the people who are still sane and selfless. We are surrounded by too many people whose ideas of public service is nothing but self enrichment which makes the means to such offices not only requiring desperate measures but deadly approaches through the use of violence, assassination and free fight.

If only the police can tell us who the useless owner of the fake electoral materials are..!

The US, UK and Germany are Terrorist countries too..!

By Adeola Aderounmu

Nigeria probably deserved to be there because Northern Nigeria is dominated by Sharia law and extremists who have slaughtered and killed Christians over the years without facing judgement.

Nigeria’s former president Mr. Obasanjo allowed the thoughtless governors in Northern Nigeria including Mr. Yar Adua to establish Sharia states. As the president from 1999-2007 he could have weird his presidential authority (even if that confirms his military background for a good purpose) to stop those fools from establishing sharia states within a secular country.

By turning his face away and doing nothing Mr. Obasanjo and the lazy Northern governors committed acts of treason, among many other crimes, against the Nigerian nation. The 2009 Christmas day Nigerian bomber is the certificate and climax for the crimes of both the Nigerian rulers and a failed parenthood.

However Mr. Obama the American president and those who decided to place Nigeria on the list of countries of terrorists are either myopic or simply blinded by what we continue to unfold as the future of terrorism.

A number of the perpetrators of the 9-11 terror attack on the US trained both in Germany and the US. They were trained by Americans and probably Germans. That way they are not different from Abdulmuttalab who was trained in Yemen. Yemen and Nigeria are on terror list. In my opinion Germany and the US are on top of the terror list.

I cannot count how many terrorists have emerged from the UK. Those in incubation as we have been told far outnumbered those we have seen. In that sense the UK occupies the number one spot of terrorist countries.

You see Mr. Obama, double standards cannot save or rescue the world. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. You cannot put Nigeria on the list of terrorist countries while closing your eyes to the past or the precedents and even ignoring threats from within your domains.

But let me help you. I am Nigerian and I know that if care is not taken, Nigeria will disintegrate even before the 2015 as predicted. I hate what is called governance in Nigeria. It’s too corrupt for me to behold. I know corruption is worldwide trait but the dimension and the effects in my Nigeria make me sick. I am frustrated. I am so frustrated by the never improving status of my country despite our intelligence, oil wealth and vast human resources. Our expanse of mineral and agricultural diversities lay in fallow or in ruins. We are so graciously blessed but largely living in penury-more than 70% of Nigerians are living in unnecessary poverty. We deserve a better life for real!

Hence I reckon with you the ease with which you can place Nigeria on the terror list. But that doesn’t stop me from pointing out to you that the US, Britain and Germany in my mind, are terrorist nations as well. I believe I have a right to my own judgement too. The recent killings of Americans by an American man at a military base point to the constancy of America as a nation of terrorists. A number of American citizens are scattered worldwide planning terror to be executed in America or on Americans. Remember the arrest in Pakistan?

My advice to you is to review the list of terrorist countries. You have to base your conclusions on sound judgments and not sentiments or witch-hunting. How can Nigeria be on the list of terrorist countries for the same reason that have left out the US, UK and Germany? That I don’t get but I do understand our peculiarity as highlighted above.

But now I can argue that Nigeria should not be on the terror list because Abdulmuttalab is not a symbol of Nigeria.
