Emperor Mugabe, But They Went To Hell..!

Adeola Aderounmu

Why Mugabe chose to use the burial ceremony of his sister as another medium to attack the Western countries is best known to him.

I thought the dead deserve to rest in peace after passing through this crazy world. Couldn’t we just have allowed the dead to bury the dead?

Mugabe told the West to go to hell. Three envoys did just that. The US, EU and German envoys stood up and went to hell at the directive of Mugabe.

I’m in shock as to why Mugabe wants an apology.

If Mugabe was sitting at a ceremony say in Portugal, Sweden or even in the US and someone (Like US Obama or Sweden’s Reinfeldt) says Africa or Zimbabwe can go to hell, I expect Mugabe to stand up and leave the ceremony. Doing nothing short of that means that he has no dignity or he’s about to shed the last straw of his human dignity.

The antecedents to Mugabe’s speech at the ceremony may not be too irrelevant in this case.

I mean Mugabe has stayed too long as president thereby denying Zimbabweans fresh and innovative ideas of how the country can make progress AND the West have reneged on several multilateral issues thereby compounding the socio-economic situations in Zimbabwe.

These are facts-both Mugabe and the West through their actions and attitudes have made life miserable for millions of Zimbabweans.

I just thought it was funny and senseless that Mugabe will demand an apology from people whom he told to go to hell and they did just that.

Anyway, I hope he never gets one. It was a burial ceremony and it should have been all about that.

My only wish is that someday, somehow, things will happen that will resuscitate the hope of the Zimbabwe nation. Zimbabwe, just like Nigeria, used to be the pride of Africa.

The opposition in Zimbabwe, in my opinion, is an object of ridicule. Morgan Tsvangirai is a huge joke.

One day the truth will set Africa free. At that time Africa will rise and shine and the “West” can remain permanently in “hell” for their complicities in the plights of poor and helpless Africans and we won’t need any apology.

Switzerland Kills Another Nigerian..!

Adeola Aderounmu

In 2007 Spain killed Osamuyia Aikpitanhi as he was about to be deported. There was an outrage by Nigerians Worldwide.

Since then we have read about other Nigerians killed in Russia, China and possibly other places.

The news on friday that Switzerland has committed one more murder by killing another Nigerian is disheartening.

Why do European Police have to killed asylum seekers set for deportation?

Is it not enough to arrest them and put them on the flight back home?

Why do they have to use extreme measures like covering their faces and tying them up like animals just because they want to deport them? Seriously even animal right groups would protest if animals are treated like that.

But these are the things they do to Nigerians and other immigrants on deportation list-they tie them up and often they inject them with poisonous substances!

Switzerland should be ashamed of itself for this murder!

The Nigerian embassy in Switzerland should take up this issue very seriously. The policeman or woman who committed this crime should be dismissed with immediate effect and place on trial.

If they consider it a state murder the government of Switzerland should tender an unreserved apology to the family of the victim and to the government of Nigeria. The government of Switzerland must take measures to stop these state murders as this is not the first time. One hopes that this will be the last.

I do not in any way encourage illegal migration of Nigerians to Switzerland but I strongly believe that the human right conventions should be allowed to take its course when there are violations. Invariably there are no provisions that asylum seekers should be killed.

I do not also encourage Nigerians who are involved in drug traficking in-and-out of Switzerland. In that case the law should take its course. I am also sure that Switzerland would not have instructed its law enforcement agents to be agents of state murders in that case. No one should act above the law.

After all is said and done, we should never forget all these events. We must take measures that will promote the rights and privileges of the ordinary citizens regardless of whether they are legal or illegal immigrants. Life has no duplicate and the dignity of all must be respected.

Back home in Nigeria the government must do all it can to improve the economic and political situations. We owe it to ourselves as Nigerians to develop our domain, our country and our motherland. No one will do it for us.

We must do these things to encourage Nigerians to return home and to reduce the urge of desperate migration flow to Europe and other places.

In this particular case, some of us are watching and waiting for Justice.

May the soul of the departed find peace!

Story from BBC, Friday 19th March

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8576085.stm

Switzerland has halted special flights to deport asylum seekers after a Nigerian man on hunger strike died on the tarmac at Zurich airport.

Swiss police say they had shackled the 29-year-old man, who was being forcibly deported along with 15 other Nigerians whose asylum bids had been rejected.

When he fell ill on Wednesday the police took off his shackles and a doctor tried in vain to revive him.

Swiss authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Police said they had shackled the man because he had resisted deportation.

Two Nigerian witnesses quoted by the Swissinfo news website accused the police of inhumane treatment.

“They treated us like animals,” said one, called Emmanuel.

“They shackled our feet, knees, hands, hips, arms and torso and made us wear a helmet like those worn by boxers. It was simply impossible to move,” he said.

The man who died was a drug-dealer who had been on hunger strike for several days.

It is the third such death in Switzerland since 1999.

Last year there were 43 special repatriation flights from Switzerland, deporting some 360 people, mostly to the Balkans or Africa, Swissinfo reports.

Egypt vs Ghana in Cup Final 2010

Adeola Aderounmu

I will give the match to the Egyptians. That will be good for football and reward for performance. But then 90m must be played, at least.

Ghana survived the Nigerian scare after going one goal up and sitting back for the rest of the game. That was the same negative football they played against Angola. In football teams must learn to score more goals and secure their victory. One goal lead can be erased even in the last 5 seconds of the game. The Ivory Coast team can witness to that. But then, vitory is victory no matter how it is acheived.

So congratulations to Ghanaians who will appear in their first final since Senegal-1992.

Algerians cracked up and they paid dearly. The Egyptians became ruthless and merciless. That is a good revenge and consolation for missing out of the world cup coming up in SA this summer. The best consolation lies ahead if they beat Ghana on sunday.

I really want the Egyptians to win because more than any other team in Angola 2010, they are outstanding and very effective. They play positive football and they score goals. They don’t sit on a goal, they get more goals.

In this tournament the Egyptians make the best team. This is so sad for Africa as the best team on the continent will not be at the world cup. Very very sad. This team would have done Africa proud.

Still One hopes that the other teams going to the world cup especially Nigeria can learn from their errors and ineptitudes and give us a good outing in SA come June 2010.

The world is waiting for us on our continent..!

The US, UK and Germany are Terrorist countries too..!

By Adeola Aderounmu

Nigeria probably deserved to be there because Northern Nigeria is dominated by Sharia law and extremists who have slaughtered and killed Christians over the years without facing judgement.

Nigeria’s former president Mr. Obasanjo allowed the thoughtless governors in Northern Nigeria including Mr. Yar Adua to establish Sharia states. As the president from 1999-2007 he could have weird his presidential authority (even if that confirms his military background for a good purpose) to stop those fools from establishing sharia states within a secular country.

By turning his face away and doing nothing Mr. Obasanjo and the lazy Northern governors committed acts of treason, among many other crimes, against the Nigerian nation. The 2009 Christmas day Nigerian bomber is the certificate and climax for the crimes of both the Nigerian rulers and a failed parenthood.

However Mr. Obama the American president and those who decided to place Nigeria on the list of countries of terrorists are either myopic or simply blinded by what we continue to unfold as the future of terrorism.

A number of the perpetrators of the 9-11 terror attack on the US trained both in Germany and the US. They were trained by Americans and probably Germans. That way they are not different from Abdulmuttalab who was trained in Yemen. Yemen and Nigeria are on terror list. In my opinion Germany and the US are on top of the terror list.

I cannot count how many terrorists have emerged from the UK. Those in incubation as we have been told far outnumbered those we have seen. In that sense the UK occupies the number one spot of terrorist countries.

You see Mr. Obama, double standards cannot save or rescue the world. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. You cannot put Nigeria on the list of terrorist countries while closing your eyes to the past or the precedents and even ignoring threats from within your domains.

But let me help you. I am Nigerian and I know that if care is not taken, Nigeria will disintegrate even before the 2015 as predicted. I hate what is called governance in Nigeria. It’s too corrupt for me to behold. I know corruption is worldwide trait but the dimension and the effects in my Nigeria make me sick. I am frustrated. I am so frustrated by the never improving status of my country despite our intelligence, oil wealth and vast human resources. Our expanse of mineral and agricultural diversities lay in fallow or in ruins. We are so graciously blessed but largely living in penury-more than 70% of Nigerians are living in unnecessary poverty. We deserve a better life for real!

Hence I reckon with you the ease with which you can place Nigeria on the terror list. But that doesn’t stop me from pointing out to you that the US, Britain and Germany in my mind, are terrorist nations as well. I believe I have a right to my own judgement too. The recent killings of Americans by an American man at a military base point to the constancy of America as a nation of terrorists. A number of American citizens are scattered worldwide planning terror to be executed in America or on Americans. Remember the arrest in Pakistan?

My advice to you is to review the list of terrorist countries. You have to base your conclusions on sound judgments and not sentiments or witch-hunting. How can Nigeria be on the list of terrorist countries for the same reason that have left out the US, UK and Germany? That I don’t get but I do understand our peculiarity as highlighted above.

But now I can argue that Nigeria should not be on the terror list because Abdulmuttalab is not a symbol of Nigeria.

The Shooting of Togolese Footballers

Adeola Aderounmu

I read with dismay the unfortunate shooting of Togolese Footballers as their entourage were driving through Cabinda to reach Angola.

If I was one of the footballers I would been long gone, home!

I mean they could all have been dead by now if they were seated in the first bus. The driver of the bus was killed but they were lucky to be in the bus coming behind. Still one or two players got bullets embedded in their bodies and losing consciousness.

This is very frightening. The Angola Government and the Angola Football Federation has not tried at all. What kind of nonsense and stupidity is this?

Why was there no warning of war or rebellion in parts of Angola or Cabinda? This is completely unacceptable in a world now dominated by terrorist activities. Yes terror and the fear of it has gripped the world whether we like it or not. This is why we now have to be stripped naked by machines especially if we are travelling to the US.

The Angola Government and the Football Federation, even CAF has a lot to explain to the world and to the Togolese especially. This could have been a much more devasting tragedy. It is still a serious tragedy because someone has been killed for no fault of his.

The terrorists who carried out this devilish act deserved to be hunted and captured by all or any means possible. What is the crime of the Togolese players that they made them the target? Absolute nonsense and unacceptable act of war on innocent people plying their trade and flying the flag of Togo.

Like I wrote earlier, I would be long gone if I survived such an attack. Morally and psychologically I would not find the strength to play any stupid game when my teammate is down injured and my driver is dead. If Togo goes ahead to feature in this African Cup of Nation Tournament, I wish them luck but they deserve a break from it-if only to send a strong signal that security is not a joking matter when you are a visitor of a certain government.

Angola has let African down not because they attack actually took place but because it didn’t provide any warning system that there are terrorists within its territory. Angola has failed even before the kick off because an entire entourage could have been massacred. If that has happened I am sure we will be talking about a cancellation of the entire tournament by now.

Well let this serve as a good lesson for nations all over the world. Give early signals and warn visitors to your country of the type of terrorists that you habour and the areas to avoid. The Togolese team was driving from Congo to Angola and it seems the the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is now shifting blame that the team should have flown (by air). Lame excuse! CAF should just accept responsibility for its failure rather than make useless comments at this time that Togo is experiencing pain and sorrow.

There is no point trying to paint the condition of perfection when your country is under siege from within by terrorists or rebels. Make is open, give warnings, offer maximum protection and provide adequate security that will avert the unnecessary lose of lives and property.

My greatest sympathy to the Togolese Team in the African Cup of Nation. To Nigerian-born Emmanuel Seyi Adebayor and his teammates I send my condolence for the lose of your driver. Surely the siege is over but the shock will stay for a long time. If you decide to play, we will understand if you don’t play your hearts out. Whatever happens, we have all learnt a new lesson, like we do everyday, and football is just another kind of sports. It should never be a do-or-die event and the earlier the perpetrators of this ugly event are captured and prosecuted the better for the global village.
