Murder in Sollentuna

Sometimes life is just going on as if nothing serious has happened.

But not exactly-serious things happen around the world everyday. In Sollentuna an area towards the north of Stockholm one guy put a gun to the head of his sleeping girlfriend and killed her. It was like an execution since investigations now revealed that the gun shot was likely from a range as near as 5-10cm. This happened in August this year.

The 18 year-old guy lied when he told the police they had been playing with the gun. The girl, 17 year-old, was asleep when she was shot and died 2 days later at the hospital. The boy was the one who called the police saying that his girlfriend has been shot. He was the shooter.

The trial begins shortly.

Now England Knows who Zlatan Ibrahimovic is

England has always played down the Zlatan Phenomenon but after today the 14th of November 2012 I am sure that England will always remember Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

It was a friendly match but the historical facts will stand the test of time.

Zlatan became the first man to score a goal in the newly opened Friends Arena in Stockholm. England went up 2-1 before the break.

In the last 15 minutes Zlatan scored 3 more goals to wrap up the games for Sweden.

The last goal will go down in football history as one of the most beautiful goals ever scored.

Joe Hart thought he headed the ball to safety but Zlatan did a bicycle kick that will probably never be repeated by him or anyone else and through one moment of projectile magic put the ball behind the net. Joe Hart did not make it back to his goal mark before the ball went in. There was a defender, was that Cahill that thought he was standing right to put away the ball.

The projectile and range of the ball was magnificent and Zlatan made history not just scoring the first goal but all the 4 goals against England.

Some records and achievements will stand this test of time. Hate him or like him, Zlatan is a living legend.

Many Days Gone By: Corruption is Global

I am finding it more difficult to update my blog not because of lack of motivation or information but probably because of the tasks of dragging together all the pieces and bits that makes whole news.

When you write about a country like Nigeria you are never short of news-good or bad.

When you live in a country somewhere in Europe then you gradually face the task of balancing the news from Africa with the imperfectness of every country.

Recently I began to gain more insight into the high level of corruption in the European society and in fact the world as a stage for social injustice. When people say you cannot save the world, they make an unmistakable conclusion, still not pointing out those ills will make the world a more reckless place to live.

In Sweden for example the politicians are very corrupt as well. Sometimes the corruption is open and acceptable. For example when ex-politicians continue to receive huge payments for several years after their service in the parliament it is nothing but corruption. But it is open and stupidly acceptable to be that way. It is very similar to Nigerian lawmakers appropriating excessive sums to themselves for almost doing nothing but sitting and talking bullshit.

It is shocking that the level of corruption in Sweden is that high. There have been several reports in the large newspapers about how parties are held using tax payers money. How money is inflated for private use and luxurious semesters and travels. Sometimes some politicians are forced to vacate their positions after some big expositions. Sometimes the heat fizzle and the looting continues, especially the issue of pension for inactive (lazy) Swedish lawmakers.

It is morally unjust and wicked for someone who owns or runs a private company to be earning pension at the same time.

Corruption is corruption but the dimension and impacts varies. One major difference between corruption in Nigeria and in Sweden is that it is widespread in Nigeria and the impact in Nigeria has led to widespread poverty and aggravated underdevelopment. In Sweden almost everyone has access to the basic stuffs of life and the welfare system takes care of a lot of things no matter how imperfect it is.

Corruption is a global trademark but its impacts will continue to vary from one place to another. The punishment for established corruption also differs. Nigerians live with it and they don’t really bother because they have come to agree that everybody is corrupt including their fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and other people that they know in government and private institutions. Without corruption, millions of Nigerians will not make it and with it more than 70% of the population suffer bitterly.

Corruption, lack of control over state resources, lack of true federalism, the condemnable lack of patriotism and lack of sense of belonging has robbed the Nigeria of greatness and there is no end in sight. It pains. It hurts a free mind.

I hope to return to normal blogging as the days come by. Many things are happening that are shaping the hopelessness in Nigeria and it will be disservice to posterity to let them be.

The Miracle of Berlin: Germany 4: Sweden 4

I watched in disbelief as Sweden overtuned a 4 goal deficit and nearly snatched victory in Berlin on the 16th of October 2012.

The Germans were 3 goals up after 30 minutes with 2 goals from Klose and one from Per Mertasacker.

In the 56th minute Ozil got the 4th goal and appeared to have “sealed” the game for the Germans.

The turning point came for the Swedes when Zlatan perfectly utilised a cross from Kim Källström. Zlatan headed beyond the German goalkeeper to orchestrate one of the biggest and most inprobable comebacks in football history.

With 35 minutes to go, Sweden scored 3 goals. The last goal was scored in the 93rd minute by Rasmus Elm.

In between, Lustig and Elmander had scored one a piece and Sana missed an open net. Otherwise Sweden would have won the game.

It must have been the worst night for German football but a sweet night for Swedish football.

Obasanjo, Alibaba and the 400 Thieves

The bitter truth about the whole argument is that Obasanjo’s statement is true. What is also not shocking is that Obasanjo is among the thieves.
The National Assembly is made up of thieves and some of us have argued tirelessly about this fact.

No one essay will be enough to verify the allegations that Nigerian politics and many aspects of the Nigerian public life is dominated by criminal minds-crooks who will doctor facts, records and even do whatever it takes to continue to loot Nigeria in as many ways as possible.

The salaries and allowances of the Nigerian politician is the first attestation that he or she is a thief.

Otherwise they should have reviewed the salaries of politicians in Nigeria to reasonable figures. Collecting the highest pay in the world and spreading poverty among the populace is both wickedness and crime against humanity. On top of that is probably an aggregate of the most corrupt set of politicians on the face of the earth.

When these exaggerated incomes are added to the loots that are carted away daily, weekly and annually Nigerian system of politics becomes the most profitable ever (but criminalized at the same time).

The fact that 99,9% of Nigerian politicians steal one way or the other makes Obasanjo’s statement more than true. But Obasanjo supervised these criminal acts over 3 terms first as a military head and then as a 2-term serving president (of the thieves and armed robbers he is now pointing fingers at).

If the Nigerian politicians are not thieves and armed robbers, can they explain to the world why a rich country like Nigeria is inhabited by extremely poor folks who don’t even know what the next meal is going to be?

The man who is ruling Nigeria today called Goodluck Jonathan is an epitome of the stupidity of the Nigerian politician. This man is supervising one of the most loot-crative governments ever seen in Africa. His government lack purpose and direction. If you want a definition of failure, look at the Jonathan’s government. They are all the same.
Nigerians deserve a revolution and the politicians deserve several years behind bars. I mean nearly all the politicians should be sent to jail!
Nigerian politicians and military gangsters destroyed everything they took over from the colonial masters.

The roads in Nigeria are terrible and rank among the worst roads in the world.

Nigerian schools have lost their glories and education does not have the prestige it once had.

Nigerian public schools have been totally and absolutely destroyed.

Teachers are not inspired and the children have come to learn a new culture based on living large on fraud and non-accountability-as exemplified in the society where anything goes.

Nigerian hospitals are ill equipped. Old story of course!

Almost everything is in a sorry state.

On the other hand private schools and private medical facilities continue to serve the rich and elites.

The politicians and their families go to school and hospitals abroad starting from Ghana.

In Nigeria electricity is almost absent. Nigeria has the most inefficient power generating system in the world.

We don’t need an Obasanjo to tell us that Nigerian politicians are thieves and armed robbers. We already know these things.

What we have done is to sit, talk, write and jest about these things.
Many of us merry with these thieves and armed robbers because they are our brothers and sisters, or they are our family friends and acquaintances.

So we look away and sometimes even give them awards for service to motherland!!!

But there are over 100 million people who are helpless and resilient living on less than a dollar per day. It is one of the world worst untold tragedies to be an ordinary Nigerian.

It is not worth it any longer feeling sorry for ourselves or the over 100 million poor people.

A people get the rulership or leadership it deserves.

Nigerian politician will remain thieves and armed robbers UNTIL THE DAY THE OVER 100M PEOPLE FORM A GROUP THAT WILL TAKE OVER GOVERNMENT BY FORCE OR BE REVOLUTION.

Such actions must however be backed by sincerity and purposefulness otherwise it will be sheer rubbish and repetition of the cycle of idiocy.

On that day, or in those coming days it would be wonderful to witness the gradual return of power to the people and to the regions.

One day Nigerians will decide the way forward for their lives. Just one day!

Freedom or empowerment will never come from the oppressors to the oppressed. History has no such records.

When Nigerians are tired, they will know what to do. Until then Obasanjo’s statement is only an inspiration to the aspiring Nigerian politicians at home and abroad. Their sole aim is to eat from the national cake by stealing and looting. They need to be choked in the process by the people who want freedom.
