Nigeria, Ruled By Thieves and Fraudsters like Doyin Okupe

By Adeola Aderounmu

When you have a spokesman like Doyin Okupe, then you probably have either a criminal mind or deep criminal tendencies.

Goodluck Jonathan probably considered Abati ineffective as a presidential spokesman. Abati wrote and spoke for the common people for many years before he switched sides. Under the influence of money and power true characters will always emerge. Abati has gone down in my books as one of the criminal minds in Nigerian journalism.

I knew Okupe during the 1993 presidential debate because I saw him on tv. I knew right away that he was criminally minded. He was representing the NRC which has Alhaji Tofa as its presidential candidate. MKO Abiola was definitely at his best and he rightly put Okupe in his lowly place. There are no saints in Nigeria.

Okupe was the mouthful spokesman for Obasanjo and the jobs of these spokesmen has always been to be the devil’s advocate. Someone has to do the job anyway; no matter that it is a dirty job.

Nigeria is a country-as I have repeated many times on this blog-that will probably never make it until drastic and radical changes take place.

The changes will include sentencing criminals like Okupe to prison for a very long time.

When criminals are in power, how can a country prosper?

If Jonathan can bring criminals into government, then it means the entire Nigerian presidency is full of criminals and is therefore a big fraud.

Men who have stolen from the National and state treasuries for many years are in control of Nigeria.

The hope and optimism in Nigeria baffles me.

This is a country of over 150m people with a handful of prosperous people. You can count the number of people who prospered by hard work and dedication. Several thousand defrauded the state and federal government. The private sector is not free of executive criminals.

Corruption is global as I’d always hinted. But the dimension in Nigeria is a calamity. The acceptance of corruption as a way to good life and prosperity in Nigeria is a misnomer.

That is why Jonathan can hire a thief like Okupe to be his spokesman.

Okupe is a loud-mouth who is ready to do anything for his money. His ways of running down government opposition exposes how money and position can rub men of their supposed intellectualism. In that way he is of the same feather with Abati who is wasting his time in Africa’s biggest citadel of corruption and executive maladministration.

One day the Nigerian people will rise up and save themselves from these vultures, criminals and evil minds who have perfected the act of self-perpetuation since 1960. One day this anomaly will end.

Lagos Facebook Murder

By Adeola Aderounmu

It’s very sad to know and read about the story of Cynthia Udoka Osokogu.
She was lured by murderers who posed as friends on her facebook list of friends.

Ezekiel Nnechuwu Olisa Eloka,23 and Echezona Nwabufor, 33 robbed and killed Cynthia in a Lagos Hotel. Pretending to be good friends and potential business associates, these wicked men raped, robbed and took the life of a woman who taught she was making good contacts for her business opportunities.

Apparently these guys are career murderers and one begins to wonder how many career murderers are posing on facebook as friends.

A lesson has been taught in the hardest and saddest way possible- don’t be friends to absolute strangers on facebook. If you do, never meet them! If you do, let it be a public or open meeting and never in hotels or private homes. Don’t go to places with strangers. They could be murderer like Ezekiel and Echezona.

There is a slight consolation in the rapid response of the police and law enforcement agencies. It is remarkable that the Nigerian Police could track phone numbers and make use of CCTV cameras leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.

The next line of hope is the prosecution and eventual sentencing of the offenders.

One can only imagine the sadness and sorrow of the families and friends of the beautiful woman that was murdered. Cynthia was a businesswoman and a graduate student resident in Abuja. She was murdered in Lagos. She did not deserve that sort of treatment. May her soul find peace.

Meeet Farouk Lawan, One of several thieves ruling Nigeria

If you are one of those following news from Nigeria, you would have heard about a $3 Million dollar bribe involving one crook called Farouk Lawan who is a member of the Nigerian National Assembly.

Either by trap or whatever means this thief was caught on camera collecting a down payment of $600K.

This fool and thief is supposed to be a member of the committee that probed the oil subsidy scam rocking Nigeria under the feeble Jonathan administration. If you are interested in all these useless stories you have to do more goggling and reading of Nigerian newspaper or online news sites.

My own take is that Farouk Lawan is a thief and he is not alone. Almost all Nigerian politicians are thieves because they are involved in giving or taking bribes daily.

Even the oil magnate Otedola who is the other player in this ugly scenario is not a saint but he can claim that he is a businessman and that the problem in the oil industry is the problem of the Nigerian government and not his.

My grievance is with the Nigerian state, a failed aggregation of familiar enemies who are led all the time by tropical gangsters in uniform or mufti.

The other day Obasanjo called all of them (including himself of course) thieves and robbers and some people almost called for his head.

But Obasanjo is right. Nigeria is rulled by robbers and thieves in disguise. He was once one of them and wherever possible he continues to pull the strings to put these thieves and robbers in places.

While Nigeria last the immunity clause is a license to steal and loot. While out of office no one talks about the monies that thieves like Farouk Lawan have stolen. It took the British government to nail the notorious James Ibori who became a governor despite being an ex-convict and a known rogue!

What Farouk Lawan has done is the norm in Nigeria. These crooks who have re-packed themselves as politicians are always stealing money to build houses and empires in Nigeria and abroad.

A camel will go through the eye of a needle before you will find a Nigerian politician or top public servant who does not help himself/herself.

Nigeria is in a hopeless situation because corruption reached a new height under Goodluck Jonathan. The earlier the bunch of thieves in Aso rock and across all government houses in Nigeria are swept away, the better for the future of the unborn generation.

With what they have in Nigeria today, the country is very hopeless. Moreso because Farouk Lawan will walk free the same way Babangida who stole more than 12 billion dollars walked free. Babangida even committed treasonable felony when he cancelled the June 12 1993 presidential elections. In Nigeria it pays to be a political criminal! You steal big and live big. What a country!

HOSNI MUBARAK GOES TO JAIL

By Adeola Aderounmu

Former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak will serve a life sentence. He is already 84, almost having nothing to lose.

Mubarak was accused to ordering the killing of protesters in 2011. It was actually very difficult to prove this case against him. The Police could have acted on its own. But Mubarak was in charge and the bulk stops at his desk.

Mubarak is ill, suffering from a heart condition. It would not be a shock if he is released on compassionate ground or if he is still allowed to continue to live at the Military Hospital.

Mubarak was a dictator. I don’t have enough knowledge to access his regime and I have refused to read Wikipedia for any details.

I am just going to complete this essay as an ignorant observer of Egypt.

Egypt remains a hot destination for tourists. Many Europeans will still spend this summer in Egypt. Therefore there must be something that Mubarak did well as a dictator or killer of protesters.

There must be something about Egypt before, during and after MUBARAK that makes it a wonderful place to live and visit.

Egypt remains a great footballing country. The images of Egypt that I see and observe are wonderful and delightful.

My own brother visited Egypt a few times as a tourist and businessman. It must be great there.

Usually I write to compare situations around the world with the country where I was born, that is Nigeria.

In Nigeria Mubarak will still be a hero like Babangida. Babangida killed several people including Dele Giwa and a generation of Nigerian young and promising military service men. Babangida rolled out the tanks in 1993 and Killed Nigerians protesting the annulment of the Presidential election won by MKO Abiola.

Babangida in one swoop stole more than 12 billion dollars during the Gulf war.

Today he is still a hero. He has never been convicted or imprisoned for any of these crimes.

When I watched the trial of Mubarak, I thought to myself: what if the Egyptians visit Nigeria and discover that Nigeria is covered by darkness because of the lack of electricity?

If they come, the Egyptians will see that there is no public education in Nigeria because nobody cares if the poor man and his children receive any education.

What if the Egyptians come to Nigeria and see that Nigerian hospitals are big jokes and that infrastructure in Nigeria is dead.

Nigerian roads are prone to accidents and they are among the worst in the world.

In Nigeria the politicians are thieves and they are wicked.

This week in Nigeria the heartless regime that continues to loot and steal decided to increase the price of something it is not providing. Nigerians will pay more for electricity while they live in darkness.

My conclusion?

If the Egyptians come to Nigeria they will fish out all the past and present rulers of Nigeria and tear them into pieces. This group includes the present president, all his serving committees, all the governors and all the people occupying government houses across Nigeria.

The Egyptians will take them out and sentence them to life imprisonment or to death. They are worse than Mubarak. They are the heroes of Nigeria. What a world!

War and Genocide in Northern Nigeria

Adeola Aderounmu

Terrorists, who are most likely members of the Boko Haram group, have attacked Christian worshippers in Kano.

The attack took place at BUK, Bayero University in Kano.

It was a remarkable attack. The terrorist bombed the venue of the campus worship and they pursued and shot the worshippers.

The message is clear, kill the Christians.

This is a hallmark for genocidal attacks. The terrorists have not hidden their hatred for Christians.

Terrorists are on top of the situation in Nigeria. They operate whenever they like and they kill innocent people just as they like.

A few days ago, Media houses were attacked and journalists were killed.

The weak and lazy government headed by Jonathan has never preempted or prevented any terror attack. The terrorists appear to be more intelligent and smarter that the impotent Nigerian police + army.

Just about 24 hours ago, a military chief in Nigeria said the PDP owns Boko Haram. In a way he confirmed the security reports have was leaked many months ago. Such a statement from an adviser to the president carries weight and fact. He knows what he was saying.Just that he should be fired too!

Northern PDP owns Boko Haram and Boko Haram is a Northern Nigeria agenda to seize power again by force or coercion.

Jonathan will go down in history as the most useless president to rule Nigeria. Ordinary Nigerians are killed anyhow and at will, and the end is not in sight.

Jonathan boasted that his weak government is on top of the situation but he lied. He said Boko Haram will be gone by June and Boko Haram has planned massive bombing of (Northern) Nigeria just to counter Jonathan’s empty threat.

This means that Boko Haram’s comments and plans are more reliable and powerful than Jonathan’s.

It is always a sad thing to see or hear just how innocent people are sent to their graves, too early.

Nigeria is already soaked in poverty and citizenry impoverishment. On top of all the woes and stupidity in Nigeria, terrorism has come to stay as the most unwanted bonus that Nigerians are saddled with.

If there is one country in the world where the people ought to revolt and overthrow the government, that country is Nigeria.

I am in shock that the people are surviving, suffering, praying and hoping. Nigeria is a completely hopeless country. Hope will come when the people take their destinies in their hands.
